About Me

Chinese American pianist and violinist, Isabella Ma, has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, Lincoln Center, Miami New World Center, and Disney Concert Hall.

Ms. Ma has had the honor of working with world-renowned musicians such as Yefim Bronfman, Stephen Hough, Richard Goode, Robert Levin, Vladimir Feltsman, Vitaly Margulis, Anne Schein, and John Perry. She has been named a top prize winner of numerous competitions including the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Chicago International Piano Competition, Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition, Schoenfeld International Competition, MTNA National Competition, Aspen Concerto Competition, Mannes Concerto Competition, Young Musicians Foundation Debut Concerto Competition, and the Miami Music Festival Competition.

Ms. Ma has participated in the Aspen Music Festival in 2016  and 2017, the Miami Music Summer Festival in 2015, and the NYU Summer Intensive in 2015. After her debut at the Miami New World Center, the Miami Times published a review praising her "maturity and musical intelligence that emphasized the lyric beauty and austere intensity...elegant phrasing and organic, graceful style that made the music come alive in a spontaneous, idiomatic fashion.”

A native of Shenzhen, China, Ms. Ma started the piano at the age of seven with Dr. Anli Lin Tong and violin with Elmer Su and Vesna Gruppman. She is a graduate of  Mannes The New School for Music, where she studied with J.Y. Song, Pavlina Dokovska, and Hiroko Yajima. She was awarded the Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award and the Steinway & Sons Piano Award by the Dean.

She currently continues her studies at The Juilliard School in the Master of Music Program as a pianist under the tutelage of Professor Jerome Lowenthal and will pursue a second Masters degree in Violin Performance this fall.
